On thursday afternoon I went to the "tidy towns" launch in the environment centre along with many of the local schools in the area including Mayals school, gowerton and pen-tre-hafod. Tidy towns is a project aimed at tidying up the streets of wales. There are many different projects within the scheme including re-spraying old grafittied surfaces in lots of places including victoria park the Elba and many more. As well as this the project aims to encourage schools to get things like environmental council and trying to get schools to try and win the green flag which proves that their school is very environmentally friendly. All around the room where the meeting took placethere were many different art displays and stalls from every school that was involved the schools did the art to try and encourage their pupils to become more aware of their environment. as well as this the council were there to try and raise awareness and also to give out green bags and leaflest and information about different events. the swansea environment centre had a stand trying to encourage people to use real nappies. The forest school organisation also were there because they worked with some of the schools. Finally all the different schools got awards for all the good work that they are doing for the environment and Gowerton got awarded the first green flag for a comprehensive school in Swansea
