The Welsh Assembly Government is asking for views on proposals to introduce a charge on single use carrier bags. This new charge will apply to a range of carrier bags, which are currently handed out free in many shops. We are currently campaigning to raise awareness about the extreme deforestation of Indonesia reulting in the homelessness of tribes such as the Orang Rimba. We have joined forces with Greenpeace and the Rainforest Foundation for this important cause.

We have placed a giant cardboard tree in the window where we are asking customers to pop their faces through holes in the leaves and have your photo taken next to faces of the Orang Rimba tribe whose way of life and very means of survival are under threat by encroaching Palm Oil plantations.
The window forms part of an interactive petition that will be presented to Sinar Mas with the text reading:
' we urge palm oil and paper company Sinar as to imediately stop destroying forests in Indonesia. We are part of the same family tree and demand respect for the rights of the Orang Rimba and other tribes who call the forests home.'

On thursday afternoon I went to the "tidy towns" launch in the environment centre along with many of the local schools in the area including Mayals school, gowerton and pen-tre-hafod. Tidy towns is a project aimed at tidying up the streets of wales.
