Waste Forum Meeting 'Food Focus'
Submitted by caryskelly on Mon, 04/01/2010 - 10:12
A third of the food we buy in the UK ends up being thrown away. This type of waste is a particularly important stream on which we need to focus as it also emits harmful gasses such as C02 and methane which contribute to climate change.
Producing, transporting and storing food uses a lot of energy water and packaging, which is wasted if the food gets thrown away uneaten. Most of the food thrown away ends up in landfill sites.
Swansea Waste Forum will be looking at ways we can address this problem in an interactive and informative meeting on Friday the 29th January between 9am & 11am at The Environment Centre. Not be missed by anyone working with or interested in food and/or waste in general.
